REFRESHMENTS & SNACKS INCLUDED

Strelley Hall was originally built in the 1200’s AD as a castle, however records show that no permission was ever given to give Strelley castle status so could only be classed as a fortified manor or abode. In the 18th and 19th Centuries Strelley Hall was modified There are many of the original features still there today including the castle room, the panelled room and the dungeon.

It stayed in the Strelley families hands until 1678 when the former owner Sir Nicholas Strelley lost the estate through gambling to a Mr Ralph Edge the Edge family then passed the estate down through their male heirs until 1978 when Miss Emily Edge remained unmarried and childless.
Sir Nicholas Strelley is rumoured to still roam the halls and grounds of Strelley as a dark presence. He is said to have taunted and scared past and present staff of the halls. The Castle Room and Panelled Room are said to be paranormal hotspots for activity, servants from Sir Nicholas’s era are said to also still roam Strelley.

The most eerie part of this building has got to be the dark, damp cellars beneath the hall that lead to the dungeon.
